NOT LAVIN NOT THE PLAYERS

Ok.... let us not blame the players they gave it all and tried their best. Let us not blame Lavin or the staff they tried.
The program was down so low it will take time to catch up so we can play with the big boys. Maybe we never will be able to fit in The ACC but the blame belongs on the administration for allowing this program to spiral out of control for so long. The basketball world changed we stood still and did not embrace change and result is what we have today.

If the NEW BIG EAST is to make it and for it to keep MSG................SJU must be great. Our games must fill the place and that will only happen with great teams from NY and NJ. If we do not turn the corner the ACC tournament will be here in 3 years.

We must get great players from all over the country to come and lead us out of these doldrums. Hopefully Lavin is the guy and if he is he will be able to write is own ticket and go down as the savior of College Basketball in NYC.

Lavin's the Coach and shares responsibility for the performance or lack of it. He picked these players most of whom are not up to their press clippings in HS. Which raises another issue, how accurate are all these HS rankings anyway?

Most compelling need for next season is a PG, branch isn't going to cut it and, God forbid, seeing Greene run the team again is unbearable. I don't like Lavin letting him run loose as he has. Greene could be effective coming off the bench for decent minutes but, only to try and generate quick offense. Not 36 minutes a game controlling the ball. Maybe 12-15 minutes a game tops.

I cannot believe there isn't a PG somewhere in the Metro area that wouldn't be an improvement over what we've had for 2 years now. Lavin needs to beat the bushes to find one, maybe a JUCO ?

Disagree, I think Branch can be good. We have not seen his best since he got hurt. prior to that, we was looking good. I think as a Jr. and a full season, and a full cast around him, he will be fine.

The 2 biggest needs we have are rebounding (and GG and Sanchez should help there) and shooting. The latter one, I am not sure how we rectify easily, but maybe Hooper will be OK, and Harrison, assuming he's back also fits the bill.

No available scholarships. You massage the numbers for a Rysheed Jordan, but not sure you can suggest someone transfer or make Max pay his own way for an unheralded juco.

As far as your initial premise, Danfog: I use to be understanding when it came to the fact that Father Harrington, a Catholic Priest, wanted a clean program when he hired Norm and put restrictions on his recruiting ability. However, in light of the recent revelations regarding Fr. Harrington, Chang and Wile---and even going back to Fr. Cahill--I am now pissed. We should have been like Baylor or Cal's Memphis. All that moral indignation after the Pittsburgh scandal was B.S.

Blaming the administration is a cop out. As Louisville proved today, Nova is a mediocre team at best. In fact we have more talent then they do. So how do you defer responsibility from the players and the coach. Perhaps it's the water.

If there are no available scholarships, then why Did Lavin offer Jarel Martin, Ismail Wainright, Jermaine Lawrence and Rysheed Jordan?

How is it a fact we have more talent than 'Nova?

Agree MJDinkins, we have the talent to be better than we are IMO but we have holes for sure.

No doubt, we have holes. Shooting; point guard play; rebounding; and leadership.

Hopefully, Hooper, Harrison (if he actually returns), and Branch (who shot the ball fairly well before his injury) can rectify the shooting.

Another offseason and a healthy Branch can rectify the point guard spot (and, possibly, Rysheed Jordan).

Obekpa and Sampson improved in the rebounding department, as the season wore on. But it still wasn't up to par. I think Sanchez and Gift will also help us here.

I think Gift and Sanchez will bring a form of leadership.

Question marks that need to be answered a season from now.

Whose fault is it then, yours? Mine? Kim Kardashian?

My post wasn't that long and I thought my point was right in there: You create room for top guys if there isn't room.
