I noticed that the leading scorer on North Carolina A &T (who played Seton Hall last night) is Lamont Middleton Jr. I assume he is the son of former Johnnie Lamont Middleton Sr. It is nice to see a local kid (he is listed as being from the Bronx) and a son of a former player of ours having success at the D1 level.

Noticed the kid but didn't see the Jr. Still figured it might be his son. Lamont Sr. was a real solid ballplayer for us. Undersized PF but tough as nails inside.

He wore a hard hat, went to work and got the job done. Transfered from University of Hartford and gave us two solid years.

He was a really nice guy too. I remember talking to him a lot when I was with the Torch. Middleton and Mitch Foster were the two JUCO transfers who were to add toughness to the bench.

Wonder if he had to go through the (torturous) NCAA Clearinghouse?

I recall LMJ being on one of those recruiting lists which mentioned grammar school players. He must have been about a 5'6" fifth or sixth grader and was high on the list for his grouping, but never heard about him since then. His college bio says he attended HS in Raleigh, but did not play ball.

Yes, definitely a nice guy but he was not a Juco transfer. He came from the University of Hartford and sat out a year. Interestingly enough, they would not let him practice that year and wanted him to concentrate on his grades. I believe he went to Walton H.S..

Lamont gave it his all every night.
I loved his blue caller game.
Lamont , Billy S and Charles M all brought a certain toughness to SJU.

You are absolutely correct. He went to Hartfoed and transferred here.
