NIT experimental rules

Hopefully a move to 4 ten minute quarters will result in the end of the TV time out, one of the worst things ever implemented.

Why not mirror the NBA. 4-12 minute quarters, 6 fouls, same 3-point line, etc.?

Seems like the shot clock a couple years ago changing after the NIT if this goes well they will implement 4 quarters next year.
I don't remember if anyone ever put up a stat but did the shot clock change increase scoring last year for the ncaa ? I liked the shot clock shortening rule and thought it would increase scoring but I don't ever remember reading any post season follow up to it

Right now there are 4 commercial breaks per half. Moving to 4 quarters will not quench the thirst for advertising opportunities.

I'm with you, but don't see it happening.

the thing if you went to 48 minutes is my guess that adds another half hour to each game so that will make it harder for networks showing multiple games in a night same time zone like some big east games

On a separate note even though I love watching college hoops part of me wonders if that extending the games would make it harder for upsets because over a longer period of time I'd think the stronger team in college would have better chance to survive. That's just a guess on my part

Watching the end of a women's game on TV that went into OT, they now have a provision that allows a team to move the ball to half court late in the game after a timeout. I'm not sure exactly the circumstances under which a team can exercise this option (maybe in the last 2 minutes?) but I like the concept and would like to see it tried in the NCAA ranks (a la the NBA).

I do not want to see the college game mirror the NBA.

I definitely do not want to see them move the in-bound to mid court in the last minute or two after a timeout (you need to earn it) whe the play should be inbounded on the defensive side of the court.

40 minutes is fine and I don't see the need to split it into quarters.

I don't like the resetting of fouls after 10 minutes.

Some tweaks here and there are fine (maybe one less full time out and make it a 30 second one instead).

It can occur in the last minute of the 4th period or any overtime period. Team on offense has to use a timeout to "advance the ball". HS adopted the same rule last year.

Years back the BE had a six personal foul rule for conference games. The logic was it kept star players in games. Downside was after 18 games of guys pounding on each other they had to go back to 5 for the NCAAs and it hurt the conference.

Agree with all your points except not resetting fouls after 10 minutes. Anything that would cut down on foul shooting I'm for but I do like eliminating one and one as it punishes the team with the ball too much. Remember old NBA days when a non shooting foul under the foul limit resulted in only one shot for the offensive team. Red Holzman of the Knicks used to send in bench player Mike "Give a Foul" Riordan just to commit a foul or two.

The change I would like to see is a return one of the rules which existed into late 1940s (guess 1948 ) Where the team fouled had an option to take the ball out of bound rather then shoot In the case of a two shot foul the option could be exercised after the first shot.

Last night I watch Kansas come back against West VA. Yes West VA panicked but the officiating got strange. In last year NCAA there was a similar situation ( the teams escape me )it was as if the officials were also rallying with the team trying to comeback.

I remember them bringing that rule back as a trial during the preseason college games several years back. I believe it wound up extending the time of games and made the last few minutes really crawl..

I hate the 5 foul rule in college basketball, which favors teams with deeper benches.

I don't like foul shots after 4 fouls . it will lengthen the game.

MAke top ten teams play with 1 girl when playing an unranked opponent.
