Fans like the Q&A with coaches & players. Kids like autographs. Nova also does AC great job recognizing past players as well. All in all they get it.

No comment of the "Free Admission" ...that is the first thing you see looking at this ad....people love Free. SJU- with the attendance issues they already have, real surprised they charged for last night

The Villanova marketing department is a well oiled machine.

When my daughter was on a varsity women's team at Villanova I had an opportunity to speak from time to time with the then senior Associate Athletic Director who explained that Villanova's 2 tone blue and white "\/" logo was the result of an expensive ongoing process of testing font, color and size. As he said, "it did not just happen without professional development".

I am not sure that St.John's has spent the same time and energy to establish a recognizable logo for our school. It seems that St.John's logo changes on a year to year basis.

It was the interim interim athletic director that decided to charge admission to a game where half the arena was projected to be empty. On the bright side, $82,000 was raised towards Slice's buyout.

Sadly, buyouts don't come cheap.

Agreed Otis. Branding really matters. That being said, the current logo of the red STJ has been around for the past few years and I really hope they keep it. It's the best logo we've had, in my opinion.

In my opinion there is nothing calculated or strategic in the good things Nova does. THrough and through they are a great school, in all ways.

So by that measure we should also be a great school as nothing we do seems to be calculated or strategic.

Not exactly. Treat students, parents, alumni with care and concern, build a great university community that exists long after graduation, welcome everyone with warmth, create a strong academic tradition, and many good things follow.

Otis,

What years did your daughter play?

OTIS, congrats to you and your daughter in selecting Villanova for her education. My nephew attended and loved the experience. It is the school I wish St. John's would emulate in many ways. In the past I joked about your Nova connection but with envy of course. Sending your daughter to Nova shows you are a great dad with her best interests at heart. :)
