Thanks. Was under the impression that All Hallows -- which gave us Shawnelle Scott -- had gone the same route as Rice, Tolentine & Power Memorial.

In the 1990's I did some volunteer work with All Hallows and came away as very impressed with the school and the students. (I myself am a product of NYC Catholic schools.) Part of what has kept All Hallows alive is the support of a great alumni group who support the school.
The article is spot on to point out the need for NYS to allow a tax credit for educational donations. This was proposed a few years ago but Cuomo let it die because of pressure from the UFT. The state legislators are also scared of the UFT. What they don't realize is the tax credit would be for ALL donations to elementary and high schools (public, religious and private). My local NYC elementary public school expects parents to "contribute" $1,000 to support additional programs. The tax credit would benefit all schooling.
