QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John’s Athletics asks all fans to wear red to participate in a RED OUT on Wednesday, Dec. 9 as the Red Storm men’s and women’s basketball teams play a doubleheader at Carnesecca Arena. The St. John’s men’s team hosts Niagara at 5 p.m., while the women welcome Yale for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

As part of this special event, FREE tickets will be available to all St. John’s employees and students. Employees should contact their supervisors by Dec. 7 to claim their free tickets, while students can pick up tickets at the Box Office on Dec. 9.

All employees and students are also invited to attend a pregame reception featuring head coaches Chris Mullin and Joe Tartamella at 3:30 p.m. in Taffner Field House. FREE St. John’s basketball t-shirts will be given out to the first 1,500 students to arrive at Taffner Field House. The pregame reception will have FREE food and a variety of giveaways.

The night will also feature a contest with one lucky student organization winning a $1,000 prize for being the most spirited group. Organizations can enter by taking a photo of their entire group during the game and posting it by halftime of the men’s game with the hashtag #SJUREDOUT.

None. Were they hoping to keep fans around for women's game following the men's? If so, crazy.

If they were trying to draw a crowd for a doubleheader, have the ladies play first
It might motivate those attending the men's game to come early and support the ladies
The team that has the bigger draw should play the "late" game
 
I would have to think it's because of TV. If they actually decided to make it at 5PM that'd be pretty foolish.

by the time the 2nd game rolls around anyone in the upper deck will need to see chiropractors after sitting on those f'ing benches so long
 
Was at the game tonite! There was a nice crowd considering the early start! Could not take anything positive from the performance tonite except for Yawke who has tremendous upside in my opinion. 18 turnovers was absurd. Need to work on that quickly!
