Quite a compelling series this weekend. If only Beltran had better sun glasses.

Can't get too upset at him. He won the game Friday, and that brought some life back to this team.

20 of the next 26 at home, starting tonight. Need to do some damage, especially against a Twins team that has been struggling (and we usually own them).

3 game set vs Minnesota, then 4 vs Cleveland. Lets go 6-1 here and open up a lead again.
Toronto had there 11 game winning streak, while the Yanks had their 5 game streak. I dont see Toronto being that hot again especially going on a I believe an 11 game road trip.

Time to put the division away.

8-7 W Beltran still hot
Let's go Yanks!
I wonder when Pineda will be back?

That was not exactly one for the archives in Cooperstown last night.

Talk about having a little bit of everything. 2 delays so the home plate umpire can be treated, Mitchell gets hit in the face (scary moment), McCann catches 3 runners stealing, Ellsbury out trying to score, the game winning run scoring on an error with 5 guys in the infield.

However, the strangest play had to be when Minnesota challenged so that they could replace Tex on the bases with Arod (who was forced out, but replays showed the catch was made in the air), only to have Arod steal second (since no one was paying attention) and score on a single.

Bird was the word at the Stadium today.

Great job with the sweep. Now, we have to take 3 out of 4 (at least) from the Tribe.

Back to a 2 game lead.

Looks like Severino and Bird are the start of something big, like Pettitte, Jeter, Posada, and Mariano was. Looking forward to watching these kids grow in the next few years.

Hey. I'm a mets fan and not familiar with the yanks situation. Are they in a position similar to the mets where they have to win the division to get in the playoffs?

The AL Wildcard picture is a muddled mess.

Jays currently own first wildcard, with Angels second. Baltimore is only half a game out though, with Texas one and a half. Also, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and Detriot are still hanging in there, at four games out.

So, the Yankees can get in via the wildcard, but it's no lock. Really, anybody's game in the AL.

Perhaps the next core 4 will be a core 5 made up of Bird, Severino, Refsnyder, Judge, and Betances who is only in his second year. If Gary Sanchez pans out (he is still very young), that is another piece that could be added as well.

New York's "other team", always was, and always will be the Mets. New York's main team will always be The Yankees! Any arguments are pointless. Even non baseball fans know the difference between the 2 franchises. Compare a list of all the players that ever played for the two teams. No comparison. Even Beltran revealed it was the Yankees, and not the Mets that he originally wanted to play for.

Case in point, pitcher Rudy May. He played for the Yankees from 1974-1976. From 1976-1979, he pitched for the Orioles and Expos. After his contract was up, both the Mets and the Yankees were interested in him. I'll never forget what Rudy May said, "If I'm going to go back to New York to play, it might as well be the Yankees."

Case closed, end of discussion. The lecture is over, and class has ended. Yankees fans go out into the world and be proud. Met fans, you can always dream and fantasize.

Nonsense. Yanks are the best team year over year in new york on average sure. Best history in baseball too.

BUT this playoffs and being a met fan it could be short lived but no doubt about it this year for this moment the mets will get the most attention

Just look at playoff tix on stub hub. Met's resells are twice as high. Sure it has a lot to do with us sucking so long but I guarantee you this playoffs as long as the mets are in it this year the Mets are NY's team
