New Year's Day vs. Marquette

I believe this is the most important game of the season. First Big East home game vs. Marquette. The have beaten K-State and Wisconsin who are both ranked and are a high scoring team. They are playing Buffalo in a few weeks too which could give us a better picture of them heading into Big East games.

This game needs to be sold out.

Thoughts on this game?

Marquette now ranked 21st in AP rankings

The BE schedule is a grind, but no doubt this is a big game. Definitely looking forward to a great (perhaps slightly hung over) crowd for that one.

Hard to pick one BE game as the most important. They are all big. IMHO, we need to go 12-6 or at worst 11-7. If we do, we'll be OK.
Having said that, if I had to pick one it would be opener vs. Seton Hall. Assuming we win last 3 OCC games if we win Hall game we will go into 2019 ranked in top 25 with a lot of momentum to start BE grind.

Very hard to pick one game. I look at it as we are going to play a tough first BE game on the road vs Seton Hall. We come home New Year's Day vs. Marquette who are a high scoring team and are well coached.

12-6 or 11-7 is a must. I feel like the top 5 or 6 Big East teams will all be withing 2 or 3 games of each other. It will be a tight race.

Great win, knew it was a sellout when I entered the parking lot 15 min before game. Couldn't find any spots. You could feel the energy before the game and I sensed it was going to be a good game...maybe because of the basketball gods and what they did to us at Seton Hall. We came out angry and hungry and it showed. Crowd was awesome and we need that more. Wasn't just a sellout in the BS sense with seats open all over, you literally could not find an empty seat and people were packed all the way to the ceiling. Real deal. Great to see Heron playing well and Ponds had a great game. Great D against Howard as well. Looked very uncomfortable. I didn't see Ponds limping but read it on here...if so let's pray it's not another one of those "one step forward two steps back" typical St. John's things. Please gods just let us soak this in without another shoe dropping.

FS1 showed a lot of McEnroe, was he actually alone just taking the game in intensely?

Love the idea of Johnny Mac getting fired up and building some buzz in Carnesecca.

Obviously this is a huge win for the resume. More importantly IMO this team has made big strides since early season where they were barely getting by against inferior competition.
