I haven't heard Whitesell speak at all really, but I am came away very impressed. All the other coaches and players only wanted to talk about the obvious blocks, but Whitesell was quick to point out what I have been posting about Obekpa during his resurgence: how good his screening and rebounding have become. Obekpa's screening has really opened up some of our better plays, but it's not something that very many fans pay attention to. Specifically, Whitesell lauded Obekpa's speed to screen and said the keys for him will be positioning and picking up the nuances. Interestingly enough, Branch talked about it as well. I believe that was the only thing he said which was different from every other player. He called Obekpa the best screener he's every played with.
What a month or so this kid has had. He's gone from someone who we didn't expect too much from mid-season to a kid that makes us anxious when he's not on the floor. He's is far and away our best option at the five.
