New Health Sciences Center Building on Queens campus

Craig + CMA + Shanley = new era for St. John's University.

looking at the renderings it looks like the building be right in center of campus where st. vincent's hall (dorm) is now.  I guess that means less dorms.  Also i think the current health sciences building is currently attached to the library building, i wonder what will they do will that space?

I don't disagree, but this grant application has been in the works long before Shanley arrived.   May as well credit Bobby.

There is an ebb and flow to health sciences as a profession.   10 years ago there was such a national shortage of pharmacists due to chain expansion that new stores could not be built.  Since then, a flood of new schools actually caused chains to lower entry salaries.  I've been told that locally, CVS will minor infractions or errors to terminate existing pharmacists and replace them at a savings of $15 per hour or more due to the large pool of new grads.

St. Albert's hall is definitely outdated, and perhaps the new building includes plans for other health profession programs, including possibly a nursing school.

Guessing they will keep it for general sciences - biology, chemistry,  physics, etc since there are many lecture halls and labs.  Unless they repurpose.  It is not connected to the library.

Agree with you.  The one profession that was always lacking in personnel was occupational therapy, and I think that after I retired they changed the standards for professional practice to require graduate school training, maybe even doctoral level.
