New Big East Commisioner Is...

 EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- New Big East commissioner Mike Aresco says the conference wants to add a 14th member for football, and is planning to have a championship game after next season.....He also said he's confident the teams committed to the Big East, including Connecticut, will stay....Aresco says his two top priorities when he starts work next week are negotiating a lucrative television deal, and making sure the league is recognized as one of the nation's top six football conferences.

 The fact that Aresco feels that St. John's is a big piece of the puzzle with respect to media markets and TV contracts is excellent for us. We are moving forward at a rapid pace. Now we just need DePaul to take a few steps forward. I'm not sure that Purnell is that guy, but we'll see. DePaul needs a coach who is a big time recruiter in there if they are going to capture the Chicago market. They have their work cut out.
