Notre Dame hoops tickets free for students this year

For most college students, the mantra "if it's free, it's for me" is a way of life as an undergrad. Notre Dame is taking that one step further and allowing all students free entry into basketball games this season.

Head coach Mike Brey, in conjuction with Notre Dame's men's hockey coach Jeff Jackson, sent out a letter to the student body this week to let them know they'll get free entry to any of the two teams' games this winter.

Notre Dame's home ACC slate isn't quite as exciting as it could be given the caliber of teams in the conference, but we don't think anyone will be complaining about free tickets to see the Fighting Irish take on Louisville, UNC and N.C. State at Purcell Pavilion.

My son's school charges $200 for access to all sporting events for the season including football and hockey which are the marquee sports at his school, as well as basketball which is downtrodden but still big time ACC rivals.

Bingo. Guess who their starting QB was 2 weeks ago?

Beast jr

Edit: just looked it up. Had no idea Fluties nephew was on the team.

your's free with $44,000 tuition* that said more schools should do this, if I remember correctly Florida State football is free to students.

There's an old adage in business that any services or items you give away for free aren't as highly valued as the ones you charge for. If I had to guess ND bball isn't that well attended, or they are trying to create the lottery system that rabid Villanova fans compete for just to get in (their tickets are free also)
