NCAA tournament drought

If you have a soft spot for the underdog, like I do, then here is a team to get behind and root for to make this year's tournament field of sixty-eight.

Since 1901 (for students of history the end of the William McKinley administration) the St. Francis Terriers have had a men's basketball program. Despite over eleven hundred school victories they have never been in the NCAA tournament!

That is hard to believe, but it is true that it has never happened ever!

However this year under Norm Roberts buddy and former St. John's assistant Coach Glenn Braica the Terriers are on a roll and history could be made. The Brooklyn school has won nineteen of its last twenty-two games and are the number one seed in the NEC tournament. Tomorrow at two PM they will meet their name twin St. Francis of Pa. in the semi-finals. If they win that game they will move on to the finals where they would face the winner of the Robert Morris - Bryant matchup.

Here is hoping that Coach Braica and the Terriers win the NEC tourney and break this NCAA tourney drought that has reached epic proportions.

Wishing the best for Coach Braica and his team, he is a class act.

Congratulations to the Terriers, and rooting for them.

Wikipedia reports their 2015 tuition as $22,000. Can this be possible?

Did we take them off of our schedule as an annual opponent?

Good luck to St. Francis of Brooklyn. Always good for local hoops teams to go to the dance.

Congrats to Coach Braica and the St. Francis Terriers who won 62-48 this afternoon. They are 1 win away from the schools first trip to the Big Dance.
I truly hope they get there as there is no nicer classier guy than Glenn Braica.

The Terriers face our 2014 NIT nemesis Robert Morris tomorrow, Tuesday March 10th, for a spot in the tournament. The game will be played at St. Francis and will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 7:00 PM. St. Francis is a 5 point favorite. St. Francis split two close games with Robert Morris this year; losing by five on the road and then winning at home eight days later by two.

Congratulations to the Manhattan Jaspers and their psycho coach in their 10 point win over I own a NIT bid.
Great crowd at the MAAC championship! All 250 I own a fans were overwhelmed by the 350 Jasper fans.
Will Cluess or max Masiello be coaching at their respective schools next year?

Go St. Francis, good local school around the corner from when the SJU campus was on Schemerhorn Street in Brooklyn Heights.

Class of 72, good I own a post.

St Francis is one of only five of the original 160 D1 basketball schools to never make the NCAA tourney. Good luck to them and Coach Braica.

So Lavin took most of his players to the NCAA tourney. Larry Wright and Ced Jackson had to go to other programs and now his assistant makes it w/o him. Anyone see a trend there?

I think a sure fire way to win money in AC or Vegas would be go play craps with Norm, take a beating for a couple rolls then send him away. Table would catch fire immediately after he was sent away. The key, which obviously SJU got wrong is to send him away sooner rather than say 6 years later.

A three point loss to the dreaded Robert Morris. A three quarter court heave by Lowell Ulmer at the buzzer catches back iron but does not go in.

The drought continues!
To channel the spirit of the Terriers legendary Brooklyn brethren, "Wait until Next Year!"

One year it will surely be 1955 for the Terriers. I hope Coach Braica gets to experience that year with his players very soon.
