We all know that the NCAA Tourney is a huge stretch for us, but i found this site that shows every teams tourney resume from a NET perspective.

http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2020/team-net-sheet?team=Saint-Johns

Hope you other college basketball and not just SJU fans enjoy it.

If we beat Gtwon, Creighton and Providence, that would get us to 19 wins.

We would be close to getting in but I believe we would be one of the last left out. We really needed that 20 win with our BE record being so bad.

Beat Gtown and I believe we are a lock for the NIT. I would be happy with that all things considered.

No way would they get in short of winning the BE Tourney. No way is a team getting in 8 games under .500 in league play. Getting to the BE Final would not put them on the bubble.

Beating Georgetown is important though. First off they swept SJU in regular season including the game at MSG that SJU had no business losing after they blew a 17 point lead and Georgetown did not have McClung either. Need to avenge that. Georgetown playing hard but also totally staggering at the end with no depth. Also winning puts SJU 2 games above .500 and guarantees Coach Anderson that he would not have a losing season especially if they make the NIT (Say they lost next game to Creighton and make NIT and worse case they lose opening round still finish .500)

I think if we get to 19 win and beat creighton and providence in the tourney we would def be close to getting in. But like I said we would still be left out. That 20th win is huge.

The way I see it and I thought most did was that you don't count NIT/NCAA games in your overall record. CMA ended the regular season 16-15. So worst case even if you do count NIT games, can't we still say CMA never had a losing regular season? Like with baseball...you wouldn't count playoff games as part of your overall record right?

Don't think it works that way in college hoops.

It doesn't. Butler was considered a 16-17 team last year. They were 16-16 when the NIT took them.

Hopefully, we have one more win in us on Wednesday, and erase all doubt.

You may want to consider with your track record retiring from prediction business. :)

So what are you saying?? At 19 wins and tacking in 2 more quad one wins against creighton and providence we wouldnt be one of the first 4-8 teams oitside the tourney?

Beat GT first, just find your predictions tedious[/quote]

I didnt make a prediction. We are talking about scenarios and how that would relate to the NCAA tournament. lets pay a little more attention buddy.

Yeah we won't get in unless we run the table. They'll put a team with a better conference record from another power conference over us even if we have the higher NET/more Q1 wins.

At the start of the season I thought that a winning record and NIT bid would be a successful first season for Coach Anderson. At the time I thought if it was achieved that it would be on the backs of Heron & LJ. As we've seen that hasn't been the case. Because of the development of multiple players and overcoming some significant obstacles along the way. I'd be even more pleased with that outcome than I could have predicted (if it happens. no guarantees). I'm not saying we're ready to return to the Final Four but I feel confident that the program is in good hands and should have a better run over the next 4 or 5 years than we've become accustomed to.

All I want is the NIT this year. You can sell that to recruits and say you had a rebuild and in year 1 took us to the postseason. That is impressive and many coaches cannot say that. Usually when we have any injury to any key player we just bend over in the past. Not the case this year. You can tell all the minutes everyone gets has been paying off. Earlington and Williams can now rise to the occasion. Champ is playing like he did in OOC again with confidence. Just did not see that under last staff. Honestly think we have no chance of making final or winning it so not even considering that. But I think we can possibly beat G'Town. Going to be tough if one of Mac or Yurt are playing. If both play we may be in trouble. They love playing us. They're on a big losing streak but they also beat us twice and it's tough to beat the same team 3x straight in this conference. Something has to give.

Bottom line, to come in as a new coach and take a mostly rebuilding team to upset WVU, Arizona, and Creighton and a winning regular season is remarkable considering our luck in the last 20 yrs. I think we will have a much better idea what he can do next year. If he can build up Posh, Cole, Moore, etc. like he did the other guys, watch out. Maybe not ready to compete for BEC but we will be a big thorn in the middle of the pack.

If we get to 19 wins, our overall record would be 19-16. Zero chance we are getting in, especially with our regular season conference record. Only way to get in is to be guaranteed a spot by getting the 20th win.
