Experimental rule will allow @bigten, @MACSports to use instant replay on block/charge calls during conference play: http://on.ncaa.com/2eil3u4

Men's basketball: Experimental replay rule approved

Oh boy, let's make games longer & ruin momentum.

Dumb idea - there will be several more reviews every game
This will just slow down the game even more
TV networks will love this idea - more time for commercials
Glad the Big East is not part of this experiment

Why wait? Let's put in a rule that every tip off be replayed to make sure neither player started his jump before the ball reached it's apex. Too much of a judgement call and the replay will also be a judgment call with the possibility of reasonable minds differing.

So, is this going to be like the NFL where a coach throws an oversized napkin on the court? Who decides on the replay? Are the refs going into one of their interminable huddles where they probably discuss dinner or flight reservations, then huddle around the monitor and watch Simpson reruns? Sheesh.

Did Duke agree to this rule change?

Disgusting. Even when you watch a replay 15 times, a block vs. offensive foul has a huge subjective element to it. If you slow mo many charges, you see the defender sublety lean in to block an offensive player, or even when moving backwards, slowing down to impede the player and causing contact. They are impossible to call, period. I'd rather the NCAA go to a 6 foul rule, which will help teams with less depth keep their best players on the floor.
