Am i missing something with the logo?? Hostile and abusive?? C'mon

If I'm North Dakota, I just mess with the NCAA and change my name to The Fighting Sue". Then I go with some chick ninja or soldier as a mascot. That would be great...

I was going to go with "Fighting Boys Named Sue" and this image turned into a cartoon logo.

The NCAA is a organization of limited skills run by essentially, morons..They have taken an issue that did not need to be taken to this level.. Many Native American organizations are proud that colleges, universities have honored their heritage by choosing their tribal names.. Seminoles,Braves,, Warriors, Chippewas are not necessarily derogatory terms, except by those who are offended by almost anything and looking for a cause to raise cain about.

How silly that Syracuse is the ORANGE instead of Orangemen? Or, ST. John's are the RED STORM instead of Redmen..

Several years ago, I saw Indiana play North Dakota in a pre-season exhibition game in Bloomington.. It was a game well attended by North Dakota fans and I became aware of the NCAA lawsuit against the school and, its' mascot and nickname.. Anything the NCAA is for, I'm against as I believe it to be a hypocritical ,self serving ,unethical , incompetent joke..

I went online and ordered Fighting SIOUX TEE SHIRTS, A JACKET, ETC.. i wear them proudly and this school has a lot of courage to go up against the NCAA for as long as they have..

Actually, the logo of the Sioux Brave is very well done and presents itself attractively..

And, yes I believe the "Fighting Irish," could be next on the NCAA witchhunt.. Except, even the NCAA doesn't have the courage to engage ND in Court..So, better to have them pummel schools like the University of North Dakota and, not the USC Trojans..

This whole PC mentality that is taking over this country where certain groups feel that they can define what is offensive and what isn't, is an absolute and total disgrace.

If you're not a member of a group that has been discriminated against (exploited, decimated, etc.), it might be difficult to understand why that group might be offended by certain caricatures of them. But I undrstand how your sports team's name and logo might be more important.

Except that the fighting Irish, however discriminated against (like just about every immigrant group that ever came here and continues to come here), weren't the target of government-sponsored genocide like the Sioux and other Native American tribes were. And yes, I get it: we earnestly believe we're honoring their bravery and heritage when we name our teams the Fighting Sioux, etc., but when our government's policy for generations was to wipe those very people off the face of the earth and then finally to subject them to a life of poverty while repeatedly taking away their lands in the name of national interest well into the 20th century, did it ever occur to us that, despite our good intentions, it might be offensive to them? If the Seminole nation in Florida is okay with it, as they seem to be, then fine ... but what about those tribes who aren't okay with it? Schools make a lot of money selling merchandise with the caricatured images of Native Americans (like our own university did for a number of years, however innocently) and they're supposed to feel honored by it? What if a German university nicknamed its team the Fighting Jews and said it was in admiration of their courage and their culture? Would you find that offensive? I agree that political correctness has gone over the top at times, e.g., Marquette dropping the name Warriors, or Syracuse going from Orangemen to Orange, but using the names of specific Native American tribes without their blessing is, I think, a whole other matter, and one that we should be more sensitive to. I know that I'm going to be ridiculed for expressing this opinion and dismissed as a PC fanatic (which, as noted above, I'm not), but this is a matter that's too easily written off by comparing Native Indians to ethnic groups like the Irish, something that just doesn't cut it.
