NCAA has approved Summer Basketball required team activities -July 20.

Well it's a start. The coaches will finally get a few hours a week with their teams. I can't imagine how these kids can wear masks or wear any PPE and run up and down a basketball court.

We currently have a big spike in Covid-19 across the country. 2,000 new cases in Arkansas in one week. I'm pessimistic about basketball resuming unless predictions of a 2nd wave this winter doesn't happen. But the coaches still have to train and prepare for the upcoming season. I hope they find some way to safely allow the season to proceed.

I'm sure Coach Anderson is looking forward to working with his new players.

I'm excited about the talent that's coming. Mike's 2nd season at St John's should be a lot of fun to watch.

College basketball programs will be permitted to begin required team activities on July 20 under a plan approved by the Division I Council on Wednesday. The plan allows for voluntary activities and virtual meetings to continue until that time. The July 20 start date will signal the beginning of up to eight weeks of required workouts for some hoops teams, but mandatory activities will only be permitted up until the school's first day of classes.

"The Council worked to balance the desire to get student-athletes training again with the need to repopulate our campuses and athletics facilities gradually and safely, within all campus, local and state mandates," Penn athletic director and Division I Council chair M. Grace Calhoun said. "Student-athlete health and safety should remain a top priority."
