NBA Draft

This is a quote from Jim Boeheim and it sure makes sense regarding fools talking about the draft after a big game by some college player.
"I've talked to 10 pro scouts. Not one of them thought Chris McCullough was a first-round pick," Boeheim said. "When you print that stuff, people read it. That's the kind of misinformation that gets kids thinking about things and parent thinking about things that make no sense whatsoever.

Boeheim is looking out for Boeheim first last and always. Last year same comments about his freshmen point guard.

He was right on the money with ennis. He could of use another year , got drafted by a team filled with guards, hopefully he has a place in the NBA .

Basketball wise he could have used another year, but in terms of draft potential it was at its highest for the 2014 draft. He would have only gone down. He did what he had to do.

Boeheim would have laughed at any question about Jordan or Obekpa leaving after this year.

Doesn't the story go that Melo wanted to return for his soph year and Boheim convinved him he should go, not that it probably took all that much convincing.

Not true, Melo was gone when he got there. It was a one year lease from the beginning.

I would put Melo in a different category than all these guys (i.e. McCullough, Christmas, Ennis, Jordan, Obekpa). If you remember, as a college freshman, Melo could score on anyone from anywhere on the court. He is not my favorite Knick, but he is a very special talent.

Harkless and Sampson are in the same category. They each could have used more time in college but jumped to the pros where they both appear to be just hanging on by their fingernails. But it is the money so who can blame them. The Colleges want their money, especially when it comes to the God of all money- Football. So why cant these kids jump ready or not to get their share of the pie. The College teams dont have any problem jumping from conference to conference.

Certainly no one can blame them; the question really is when do they reach their "earning" potential as it were. Harkless and Ennis are both good examples; both 1st rounders who got guaranteed money but who is to say they would earn more long term had they stayed inn college and developed further? No way of knowing obviously other than asking Marillac (just kidding!!)

You can't put harkless and Sampson in the same category. Yes both could have used more time? But harmless was a first rd draft pick who will make over $5mm. Sampson was undrafted and is on a roster because he is a cheap option for a gym that wants to lose.

Well that's what Jimmy B said in his book. He was probably just trying to make himself look altruistic.
