The below linked article appeared in the National Catholic Reporter and discusses issues relating to the Harrington/ Chang Scandal which has tainted St.John's University

The article concludes (quote)"It's time for Harrington to step down immediately, either through a retirement or resignation. The university's Board of Trustees and board of governors need to step in, do their jobs and execute a change of leadership of the university. It's a no-brainer."

Harrington has embarrassed himself and St. John's University.

As the National Catholic Reporter concludes it is time for Harrington to resign.

Other than it being revealed that he had an affair with Chang, nothing will be enough to make him resign. He's just way too stubborn.

At least now I understand why he's never at the games, he's either getting fitted for suits or in Hawaii.

It boggles my mind how this woman embezzled so much without raising any red flags

I can't charge my company for lunch without it being questioned

Gives you an idea of the lack of oversight at the university... Now to consider their side of it, let's say you needed 20 more employees at $50,000 per year to review university expenditures and put in place audit procedures. Let's say with benefits the AVERAGE salary plus benefits was $70,000. Someone in the high reaches of the Vin centian community would argue that by not having oversight, the university saved $28 million over the 20 years this woman was stealing. Carry that over to every area of administration, and you see why overall, this is such a lightweight school.

For those of you who think Harrington will be removed, I am fairly certain that Vincentian leadership sees his stewardship of the University as transformational, with an upgraded campus, increased giving, and more grants and scholarships than ever. Even the academic profile of the upper 50% of the students body is impressive compared to the old days. Unless FH has an account with hundreds of thousands stashed away in his name, or there is a sex scandal involving a minor, he is staying where he is.
