Like him or not, Bobby Knight graduated nearly every player. Combined with his success on the court, it puts him in a totally different class than Calhoun.
You are right totally different class. Calhoun was just a street level hustler who got away with suspect kids and not caring at all about academics. The problem with Knight was that he didn't practice what he preached. He wanted respect but gave none. He also had physical confrontations and could not control his emotions. He was a bully in the purest sense. Graduating kids is not the only criteria. Proudly, I believe St John's gave Mr. Knight his biggest defeat in the NCAA Tournament. I enjoyed every second of watching him seethe on the bench.
