Thank you, thank you, thank you
I bet Michael Kaye was cringing - at announcing such positive publicity - because the Fordham grad has been jealous and demeaning of SJU in the past
I wonder if Chris did or will offer Joe Girardi and players SJU tix? I would imagine he'll be generous to all local pro athletes. Why not!

And oh yes, I'm forgetful as to who is NY's college team
:)

Didn't the Yankees try to get SJU to buy 5,00 tickets when offering Mullin this honor?

If that's the case, the Yankees should be expected to purchase any unsold tickets for an SJU game of our choice at MSG to guarantee a sellout

As a Yankee fan thanks for clarifying Knight - the Yanks are not perfect but they are generous - wasn't it written here today that the Yankees gave the SJU Pres $ in behalf of Bob Shepard?

btw I have a photo I took of Bob Shepard & John Wooden in Alumni Hall during McD All American HS game w/Felipe & Zendon.

The Yankees donated $5k to St. John's, Mullin threw a strike and the yanks won. A trifecta if you ask me.

Now only if we could get rid of Michael Kay.

The Mets were the one who wanted St. John's to buy tickets. Who can blame them the Wilpon's need the $$.

Hi Bobo
I think the site is still pix only (?)...anyone have the video of Chris speaking in this interview?
Thanks

Quotes from Head Coach Chris Mullin prior to his first pitch at Yankee Stadium

On his baseball career as a youngster:
Actually I played in high school at Power Memorial. I played everything; I was a pitcher, catcher, first base, left field and right field. It was the one sport I progressively got worse at [laughs]. I was really good in fourth grade, decent in sixth grade and then got progressively worse.

On his baseball allegiances growing up:
I was born in '63 in Brooklyn, so the Mets were my team growing up geographically and by age. But much like in basketball, whoever was on TV that day, we didn't have as much on TV, so it was whoever was on that day and had a good game, that's who I would try to imitate.

On his experiences so far as the head coach of St. John's:
Everything I've been doing the last few months has kind of been like being in a time machine. Going back in time between the people I'm bumping into, the people I'm talking to, reuniting with old friends and family, things like that.

On whether he wishes he came back to New York sooner:
No, I think the timing is perfect.

Notice the SJU entourage - Monasch, Slice, Bobby G., etc.

Bobby G. has gotten it right. Mullin is an ambassador for SJU. An ambassador goes to places in advance of the president and spreads good will. Mullin has slipped into this role as if he was never away. He's a child of NYC, maybe our very own Camelot, and it's very clear the NYC loves Mullin, and Mullin, NYC.

Great things to come. Correction. Great things are happening. Right in front of our eyes. Our happy eyes.

"The Great Chris Mullin" head coach at St. John's also just got a mention for dramatic player development in the NBA playoffs (happened to be Mark Jackson talking)

Serious question, was he referring to himself?

He said GS brought in Mullin to spend a day with (Thompson?) and his game improved dramatically...

Thanks, MJ stated that CM made him into the player that he was.
