Mullin’s Recruiting Philosophy

Could a mod please correct typo for topic heading to Philosophy please

Mullin's philosophy makes a lot of sense and has to resonate with the recruit. It's a practical approach and I would say more successful as you begin to win more and have a base.

You can chase big names, but if all you are doing is chasing them and end up losing them or they really had no interest to begin with, it ends up a waste of resources. If on the other hand you target kids who fit the system and have interest in St. John's then chase them until they pop.
That to me, makes a lot of sense. You can run around looking busy, but accomplishing nothing, or you can go about your business and build the program. Sometimes Mullin gets chewed up because he doesn't do what we think he should do, but in the final analysis, he is the coach and he has to deal with his production, or lack of it.

I think this team is the most talented team we’ve had since Barkley, Artest, etc. they may not perform as well in the end and there is a big gap of big men but the overall talent level is the best it’s been in a long time, so gotta give Chris that credit.
