In 1984 an anniversary double header was planned with St. John's vs.Notre Dame as the feature game and NYU to play Westminster. Notre Dame became ( as per usual ) difficult. Frank McGuire was then running college basketball for MSG. McGuire who had played in the 1934 game replaced Notre Dame with UCLA.
