MSG Floor Discussion

Just thought i'd give a little insight to the floor St. John's uses when they play the garden. I read a few posters saying they would like to have a custom design and were not happy about having the knicks floors being used.

The truth is that the custom floors would cost a ton to remake and MSG isnt always prone to such a big endeavor since they are stored in the expo center (backstage) taking up space already. Also, the courts are changed to have the Red Storm represented when possible but cannot do so if the knicks are playing within 24 hours along with either a concert or rangers game.

MSG don't give a rats poop about this program. Its like we are their charity case...

Not entirely true. We do play second fiddle obviously to the knicks and featured events but theres a fair amount invested in St. John's. They treat their home teams pretty well and were no different. The only difference is that we do not generate as much $$ as MSG would like.

Also - theres a lot of pictures and memorabilia around the garden offices as well as "garden 365" of us

Don't believe we actually turn in a profit. The arena during christmas/winter season cant afford many dark days so theres one reason for having us around.

And why should they care about us?

We're one of 5 full time MSG residents. They should 100% care about us (and do).

Like they really care about a team that averages about 5K fans a game....if that much.

1) we actually avg more than that
2) i know for a fact that we're not an after-thought

Please provide your factual evidence that supports your 2nd point. Thanks!

I wish i could send you gameday facts from our POS guys but obviously I cant. So just take it for what it is, i guess.

However, employees do get to wear our SJU gear on gamedays so if that doesnt say "I care" i dont know what will.

Saying "I know for a fact" and then not providing any factual evidence to back it up really lessens your argument.

I also know for a fact that MSG absolutely does not care about SJU basketball. I have the data to support my statement, but unfortunately I cannot share it with you. Sorry.

And allowing employees to wear our shirts means absolutely nothing. It is common practice among most businesses to allow their employees to wear clothing that represents their brand....it is not anything special.

Easy there tiger. I'm not here to provide facts for hypothetical arguments, just making my case as i see fit.

The shirt line was just a bit of sarcasm but I guess it was missed. I dont care to put up relevant and/or confidential information on here for obvious reasons but maybe you think other wise. Perhaps a bit of my own background can give you a bit more peace of mind for the information you receive? Let me know and ill link you :)

You didn't make a hypothetical argument though. You said you knew for a fact, which implies 100% truth and certainty.

Fair enough. Still hard to put a quantitative number on how much anyone "cares". When the liberty play at home, you can see a level of nonchalance which to me shows a lack of care which is what i will use to compare them to SJU. We are not on the same level as that.
