Moving Forward

We can debate whether it's coaching or lack of talent until we are blue in the face (or red), but one thing is clear, this team will struggle on offense all year long in the half court game. There is no way around it. The Fordham game was an exception rather than the norm. Even when we play well (Syracuse and Georgia Tech 2nd halves), we struggle to hit the outside shot. Pointer, Greene, Obpeka, Branch, Achuwia, Sanchez, and Balamou cannot hit jump shots. Harrison and Sampson can't hit them with any type of consistency. Hooper and Marco don't get enough minutes to hit them (whether they deserve minutes or not is another issue). I leave Jordan out for now b/c I believe the jury is still out on him.

Yes, we have guys that can run, jump, block shots, dunk, attack the rim, even rebound and defend on occasion, but no one scares opposing defenses from the perimeter and that's not going to change anytime soon. Can we still win enough games to make a run, yes. However expect some ugly games (both wins and losses) as the season goes forward. Whether we like it or not, this is who we are as a team.

if everyone is on than you have a game like Fordham. Smith Rivera was unconscious and it burned us bad. We need Hooper or someone to light up like
that. It changes everything. Still have to hope for February as Lavin always pointed to this for this team. I was always baffled by that comment being this is a veteran team but as the season goes on you can see why Lavin was saying it. It seems these guys still don't get the team concept. Keady as much as said it in his post game comments.
