MONEY Magazine's Best Colleges For Your Money

Each year, MONEY magazine produces their list of best colleges for the money based upon three primary criteria:

1. Quality of education
2. Affordability
3. Outcomes (Average early career earnings)

Out of 711 schools that were rated, St John's checks in at #422
Here is their profile of St John's

Although perhaps self evident, the 4th vriteria and perhaps most important is highly selective admissions process.

Here's the full criteria

"Quality of Education" is likely the most impossible to measure. They all try but it's flawed.

On different note, even if SJU SAT score average goes up vs.others, we still have is the still low % of graduates in 4 & 6 years compared to the upper level and retention rates etc. The commuter nature and lower income/diversity don't help all thay much im any of the rankings

Thank god the commuter nature is dying at the school. Last two classes has had 65-70 percent of freshman becoming dormers. It will be nice to have conversations with future johnnies and talk about our dorming experiences. Salute to all my guys at Donovan, and Century hall.

Wow... 65-70% freshman dorming is much higher than I expected.

What % of those are actually on campus vs. off campus apartments ? Are all the off campus apartments easily within walking distance ?

That's much higher than US News reporting data

At this school, 29 percent of the students live in college-owned, -operated or -affiliated housing and 71 percent of students live off campus.

Most of us are in campus dorms in the first two years, it's the third year where everybody wants to play independent. That's when these cali and Maryland kids all want to live together off campus. It's either that, or they pay the extra 2,000 to live in hendley residence ( off campus apartments).

You also have to be aware, we have no choice but to get a internship to graduate, so everybody rather pool their resources to live closer to work ( mainly Manhattan) , than living in Queens.
