Moe Harkless Community Support Piece

This is a great cause, and kids in foster care often have a really rough time growing up, first in homes of biological parents who have abused or improperly cared for them, and then bounced from foster home to foster home, especially if they had behavioral health issues that made it difficult to care for them.  I'm not sure of the success ratio, but I believe NYS at least, has a program whereby kids who are adopted out of the foster care system will still be financially supported by the state until they reach legal age.   Someone close to me adopted 3 of those kids after raising biological children.   That seems to be a great path to help these kids transition into adulthood and self sufficiency to be surrounded by loving adoptive parents who will care for them beyond turning a legal age.
