Redken, I had the very same experience. He had written an article and I sent him an e-mail. I was agreeing with him but just thought I was venting into the ether like any other “crazed” fan. Never dreamed he would respond. Within an hour he had responded back to me. He’s a true NY guy and fan just like us. Glad to hear is back up and at e’m.Very touching and beautifully written -- as one woulld expect from Mike Vaccaro. No one's better at what he does. I've occasionally emailed him over the years to comment on something he'd written, and he always responded immediately with appreciation and humor. Very gracious man. And like other posters, I wish him the best of luck and I look forward to continuing reading his column.
Good to hear, sjc88. About four years ago, Mike wrote a pice on Pitino, saying Rick grew up "in the shadow" of the current MSG. I wrote to him -- very respectfully, given that I'm a big fan of his -- pointing out that Rick's family had moved to Long Island before the arena was built. Hence, no shadow. Mike immediately wrote back, thanking me for the correction with self-deprecating humor. Very classy guy. (I should point out that while I wrote to him on other occasions, that was the only time I needed to correct him; his writing's always right on.)Redken, I had the very same experience.
