Thank you JSJ
without your thoughtfulness on providing the link I'd have missed out on such an interesting article.
Came to my mind too bad the Big East did not bring Tranghese back into our fold - with all his BBall knowledge & Experience!

all the best

bizarre that they do not list big east in the article. the anti- big east mentality is really starting to bother me.

The Big East got 5 bids out of 10 teams and no mention.

Tranghese was a younger guy when he left the Big East Commisioner's Office, I never understood that. I blame Tranghese a bit for the whole implosion although I think he tried his best.

He was no Dave Gavitt.

When Gavitt died, Tranghese went on Mike Francesa's show. Pitt and Syracuse had just announced their defections a few days prior, and Tranghese said he was not shocked. Admitted that the forthcoming realingment was the reason he left. Said that what he did in 2003 (basically raiding Conference USA) was a last-ditch effort.

if you don't play football your basketball must be terrible right? I can't stand people who use the term Power Five Conference in a basketball discussion.

To be fair 14 of the Sweet 16 are from the Power 5, 2 from the not so powerful 27.

But at the same time 12 of the Sweet 16 are from the XII B10 ACC no reason to include Pac12 and SEC in a basketball group that doesn't include BE and perhaps even the AAC. Elite 3 sure I can see gap between them and us but don't act like P12 and SEC are on some other level when I think the Big East is actually stronger than those conferences.

They obviously trail the Big East too, but no mention.

Exactly. They went out of their way to mention the A-10, who in fact has less bids than the Big East in the past 3 years as well. Just sad
