Mike Rice

I was expecting it to be a no-name school before clicking the link. They've got some got good players there, so he should be able to do well and maybe work his way back up the ladder. Rutgers was going to kill his career one way or the other, so maybe better he got canned earlier rather than later.

The outrage was warranted as is the forgiveness and second chance after he was remorseful and went through counseling and rehabilitation, all of which he did. He has also started back on the low rung of the totem pole (working as an AAU coach and doing individual skills training and such with HoopGroup) instead of feeling like he's entitled to another Division 1 coaching job immediately. Good for him, glad to see people are giving him another show.

I would think he would be trying avoid getting the attention. He's there to coach the kids and teach them not turn it into a sideshow. But of course the media are the media

The reporter who chose to write the story last year and was at yesterday's practice was well aware BEFORE he wrote the article that Rice said nothing during the game to the ref and that the ref had a history and a hard on for Rice. In the honorable tradition of the NJ media he chose to write the story anyway, ignoring multiple eyewitnesses who made it clear that Rice had said nothing. Rice left the gym so that no scene occurred which would embarrass his son. So instead the reporter goes ahead and embarrasses the Rice family by printing lies, no other way around it. I wouldn't talk to him either, in fact, I don't know if I would have exhibited the restraint Rice did by not smacking the guy around.

I AM PULLING FOR HIM

Got his first win at City of Palms Tourney

Having Mike Rice as their coach will be beneficial to the guys on Patrick School. Kids are very disciplined on D. Have clearly been taught.
Evan Daniels tweets

The Patrick School does a terrific job on D. Dewan Huell scoreless at the half. Mike Rice has his guys playing hard & a tough brand of ball.

Hope he gets college shot one day.

Good for Rice. Wish him the best

Unlike some folks, I think he deserves a shot at college job, be it an assistant position or HC at low mid major. It may still be a bit early, but if he stays on this path, why not?

I do agree. He seems to be cognizant of his transgressions and is respectfully paying his dues.

That said, it will be a lifelong effort since those behaviors are typically a product of core personality traits.

Good luck to him.
