Apparently Stephens was involved in a game Dec 28, 2017 that createld controversy. I saw on a Seton Hall forum where he threw out a fan
With a minute to go in the game.. The game was against Creighton and all the posts were about what an awful referee he is and excessive fouls called on Delgado.
He also was involved ironically as a referee in the championship game a year or two before between North Carolina and Gonzaga that involvolved an out of bounds play. The ref who made the wrong call was not Stephens but the mistake allowed NC to get the ball and keep Gonzaga from possibly winning the game. A couple of articles on that game make mention of it.
I guess the Seton Hall fans think differently about this clown.
Perhaps it is a psychological payback to Seton Hall.
Hopefully he never refs another of our games

So he worked two controversial NCAA championship games which both resulted in wins for ACC teams. Duke over Wisconsin, and UNC over Gonzaga. No wonder he's rated so high, Bilas and the people at espn must think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

the basically, he has a big ego, statement makes it easier to see why he lied to cover up his mistake.
Like many have said it would be impossible for him to be watching the play and notice the clock did not start on time; so they implement the referee catch-all phrase to make sure their inaccurate judgement cant be changed.

if half of what is being reported about Stephen$ is true, then he deserves the Potvin cheer, even in games he is not reffing. drain the swamp..
