Trying to keep up with the main forum, this has been a heated discussion.

Tonight's (Monday) game will be really something to see. I don't envy the umpires at all in this one.

Personally, I don't have a problem with Utley's slide. It was a baseball play that had the worst possible outcome. Was his slide dirty and cheap? Yes it was. Do I think that Utley's intentions were to break Tejada's leg? Absolutely not. But if Harvey retaliates tonight, it will be a cheap, dirty baseball play, just as the slide was. If he hits someone, and they get seriously hurt, what happens then? Do people say oh well...sticking up for your teammate is part of the game? Or will people call for Harvey to be suspended as well?

I don't think Harvey can take a chance at retaliating. But if he does, he needs to be smart about it. He can't hit someone in the middle of the back with a fastball with a 0-0 count. That will be too obvious, and will be grounds for an ejection. Remember, you can be thrown out at any time. The ump doesn't necessarily have to give you a warning.

This whole situation is becoming bigger than the game itself, and thats a real shame because it will probably ruin the entire series between 2 good teams.

Utley is a jerkhead. Not to worry though. Flores will come in and jack 2 homers tonight

Is there any rule on where you have to land when you slide as it relates to when you begin your slide? As you can see in the pics (if I attached them properly), Utley begins his slide well before he gets to the base. However, he doesn't actually land until he gets beyond the base.

This is pretty much where his slide begins, which is a few feet before the base.

This is the last time his foot hits the ground before he goes into his slide

It's easy to look good when you are beating up on the Phillies, Marlins, and Braves. It's a completely different story when you are are playing a team that is equally as good if not better than you.

We could still win on Thursday, but I just don't see it happening. Too many factors going against us...

well this prediction won't do you any favors in a call up :)

if you're not a met fan why did you say "We could still win on Thursday, but I just don't see it happening. Too many factors going against us..." ?. If you're not a met fan you aren't " we "

For the same reason that everyone else on here says it. It's just easier to say. But if you want to get technical and nitpick (like you are doing), just because you are a fan, does not make you part of "we". Fans are not on the team, and are not part of the organization.

Jumbo! You gotta just put up your numbers and let the rest happen as the good lord intended. Don't get into with the rehabbing big leaguers. You need to shed that label of a morale buster. They like to mess around with the Minor leaguers. Hazing or something. Look at me. I've been down here forever and I've seen it happen many a time.

Nonsense. I'm not going to go on a syracuse board talking about a syracuse-duke game using the term " WE ". When someone uses WE they are using it as an affiliation with the team whether it be by someone directly associated with the team or someone who associates themselves with the team through fandom.

For example people going to a St Johns game who are fans of st johns but never went to school there or never played or worked for the team chanting " WE ARE ST JOHNS "

So stop the we crap with the mets when you aren't a fan of the team. You have no rooting interest for the team. Save your WE stuff for whatever team you root for

And that being said I'd like to cast my non voting vote to call up Michael J Jordan. He has toiled in the minors enough. Let's give him a shot and see what he can do

So this is all because I said "we" instead of "the Mets"?

And if your reference to Michael J Jordan, what do you mean by "let's give him a shot and see what he can do?" So his posts/opinions have to meet a certain level of standards that other people on this board deem acceptable?Like he has to be 'good enough' to be able to post on the main board?

You aren't a met fan so don't say we. It's that simple.

In reference to MJJ the rules of the rookie forum are clear. I don't make the rules and I have no power to get him called up. All I did was advocate for him to get called up. Nothing more nothing less

If you have any questions of the rules just read them. Don't ask me

What gives you the right to say 'we' when referencing the Mets? Are you a part of them?

The same right as every single person at st johns games chanting " we are st johns "

And if you go to st johns games I guarantee you have chanted that also

Jordan needs to get the call up to the majors because without fail his jokes go way over the head of the only other guy in the minors with him.
