Memo To Vincent Council & Future Big East Players

I am sure this has been said before but at last night's game my buddy made a very memorable statement when discussing Vincent Council's feelings about not playing at the Garden last night. He said if you want to play at the Garden then come to St. John's otherwise you have to earn it. Needless to say after last night Providence has a long way to go before than can say they have earned the right to play at the Garden.

I'm not sure, maybe someone on this site may have more info. You would think that someone would have looked at him being that he was a local player but I could be wrong.

providence will be awful for a long long time. for some reason its been a hard school to get players to go to. now they have norm roberts jr. as a coach. career assistant under a big name coach, although in my mind skinner is not a good coach and certainly no bill self. then cooley gets a head coaching job at fairfield and posts a mediocre record at a small time school. providence hires cooley who's from there to lead a big east team. hopefully for providence they dont let this failed experience go on for 6 years like we did. judging by last nights game he is in way over his head

I get what your saying though, coming to St. Johns automatically gets you games at the garden but I do get what he was saying. With all due respect, would you rather play a game at Carnesecca arena or MSG? I stated before I wish all of our league home games were played at MSG

Disagree I think Providence will have some solid teams in the future. They already have some elite talent signed to come in and are mentioned with some other elite talent. They aren't as bad as they played last night they just need some time

I am not sure yet that Cooley won't work out at PC. I actually hope he does well there because personally I'd love to see all of the non football schools succeed in the Big East given how often they have been screwed over by their football brethren.

RedStorm 80, I know what you mean. I agree that playing at the Garden is always a better experience especially when it's a conference game. I honestly don't think that the atmosphere from last night would have been the same if the game was at the Garden. There is no way we sell out the Garden for Providence. I like what Dunlap said last night about Carnesecca Arena. He said that when it's packed it can be quite the hornet's nest for visitors.

i hope so too. i hate the way the b.e. is breaking up. but the providence situation seems so similar to our situation as far as head coaching is concerned that its scary.

Dude, in case u didn't know the friars have a top 10(#6 on rivals) class coming in next year.

Don't disagree but where is Shurinacheese today?

If Providence's class makes it to campus and Cooley sticks around they should be just fine. Cooley can recruit HIGH level players. I hope Prov and other bball only school continue to do well. I hope Marquette takes the BE this year. Screw Cuse, and Pitt and Uconn and Lville.

Their incoming PG, Dunn out of New London, CT could turn out to be the best PG in the '12 class...serious talent...Cooley was recruiting him to Fairfield before his stock went through the roof last summer...

Geez, I dunno. MSG has been the site of some amazing games, but there is nothing like being in your building, with almost the entire crowd there rooting for your team. At MSG at best in recent years we were 65%, with plenty of empty seats. I want the opposing team to dread walking into our building, and that just doesn't happen at MSG.

Read that Providence was the only BE school that recruited him.

Think the atmosphere at MSG would have equalled CA for that game?

6K plus at CA is much better than 6K plus at MSG.

Dunn was being recruited mostly by mid-majors early in his junior year. One of them was Cooley @ Fairfield. His stock took off that season and went through the roof during the summer AAU season. By the time Cooley took the PC job, it was pretty obvious Dunn had a great relationship with Cooley.

Both Dunn and UCONN's Andre Drummond had decided to prep at Wilbraham & Monson for the 2011/12 season. Both backed out before the school year started. Andre to UCONN and Dunn back to new London H.S.

UCONN had looked at him but backed off mid summer to concentrate on bigs, since they knew they would have Napier and Boatright coming back. Reportedly Ga-Tech, Pitt and L-Ville got interested late..
