Per LI Lightning AAU Program.... Maybe, the scholarship we were going to use on Wood could go to Johnson.

After getting his release this week former Lightning player Melvin Johnson has very strong interest from USF, VCU, SJU, URI & Providence








   
 
 I have no idea where and how he would fit in.. but he is fully qualified and able to play right now. I have loved him since he was at Rice. Kid is just a deadly shooter.

Johnson could be an added bonus to this class due to him being able to put the ball in the hole.

We have only one proven outside shooter in Harrison. The French kid is a ? at this level. This would be a huge coup this late in the game. Better than Omar Calhoun IMO and certainly better than Balamou.

Love the fact all these kids want to come here, i just hope some of them don't get disgruntled with playing time. I would hate to see guys who committed here to re-ignite this program leave, but i realize this happens to good programs and its a good thing.

Different than Calhoun.. And honestly nobody knows how good Felix can become. Tweet has been deleted and was just told not to read to much into it. Which probably in NY circles means he will commit tonight :)

Everybody isn't gonna get minutes. Besides, competition can be healthy and good for the team.

There might be one left. Is Hooper on an athletic or academic scholarship?
 
 Thats why I like saving the last scholi. Never know when a top recruit will pop up due to transfer or decommit.

Is it for sure it was referring to us when the list of interested teams included sju or could this have been referring to St. Joseph's which is now the official sju and we are STJ?

Can replace Felix. Can't replace Obekpa though... I'm hoping it all gets straightened out and we don't need Melvin Johnson.

Agree completely, CO is the key to us having a serious defensive presence going forward.
He cannot be replaced and adds a unique dimension we could clearly use.
 
He is a lot better player than Calhoun and their games are similar. However, Melvin is a lot better at creating his own shot and is a lot more unselfish. 
 
I see that Darrick Wood is not on the SJU list anymore. I also see that a poster said " Now that we dont have Woods scholarship.......... " Did he decommit? I cant find any info on him at all. Thanks
