We're going to be getting a lot of press moving forward, so I though it might be a good idea to start media thread.

On SNY Sports night, Tarik Turner, as we would expect, sang Chris's praises and raved about the hire. Said they fact that Chris is willing to put his legacy on the line, and uproot himself and his family from California, tells you how committed he is to resurrecting our program. Also said he has one of the great basketball minds of all time, and is one of the hardest working and most humble people he's ever met. Sal Licata, whoever the hell he is, said he thinks St. Johns made a bad mistake and should have hired an experienced coach, although he failed to mention any potential candidates. Don't know the guy, but he doesn't seem to have a clue about college basketball.

Sal Licata is a nobody. Used to produce the Francesa show at WFAN before getting fired I believe. Just a talking head.

He also wanted us to hire Kyle Smith from Columbia. So take that for what it's worth.

Good coach, but I think I'll stick with the huge buzz over Mullin instead.

Thought I read that he used to do radio for Columbia football. So he's likely not being completely objective.

Monte, is it possible you were celebrating a little too much today? Are you suggesting he's "not being completely objective" because of our intense football rivalry with Columbia?

Michael Kay interviewed mark Jackson today. Most interesting thing he said was that he was not reached out for the position. Also said players should be paid. You can tell the relationship between him and the school is strained.

Bill Wennington on espn radio reaction to mullin hire.

No more humble man then Big Bill, IMO. One of the finest representatives of this university, sports or not.

I met Bill Wennington a few years back at an SJU reception. Here's another guy, an adopted NYer, who is absolutely an all-time great guy, warm and personable, and not an iota of attitude. Speaks extremely well also.

Man.. I'm listening to the interview. Lupica is all in with the Mullin move.
