Just caught the end of The Oakland U. game

Max Hooper's father is battling cancer yet made it to his son's Senior Night game.

Mr. Hooper was lying on a mobile bed. Max ran to him after the game and hugged him.

Very touching !

Certainly puts everything in perspective.

I caught some of that game & a half time feature on Max & his shooting. On Senior night it was especially nice to see him pumped up on a solid team I must say. That PG is super!

I've always preached that too much emphasis was placed on shooting pct. How well you shoot is determined not only by how good of a shooter you are, but by the frequency and QUALITY of the looks you get. I've shot over 50% from behind the arc and in the low 20s from behind the arc for full seasons. Its very difficult to produce at a highly efficient level if you are not getting good looks or only getting 1 or 2 looks per game and are unable to establish a rhythm.

Happy that Max had a nice season and very touching about his dad and senior night.

With respect to the guinness book of world record style "feat" of only 3s and no 2s, its actually somewhat disturbing to me as a basketball fan. There HAS to be a time over the course of the season where a pump fake, two dribbles in and a shot, or a drive, or a wide open fast break should have been there if the goal was to play your best and not simply continue on with this crazy feat...right? His coach was obviously in favor of this or else it would never have continued, but this just seems like a bizarre feat to me.

agreed that it is disturbing. how do u play a full season of basketball without attempting a 2? I am sure at some point in the season, he was forced to take a 3, and miss, when he could have settled for an easy 2. still, kind of a neat anomaly.

The year he played for St Johns 62 of his 65 shots were from 3. Did anyone notice or complain back then? I honestly don't remember. (he went 2-3 on the non 3s)

I did notice in the few times I watched them this year that if he wasn't set up to receive a pass for a 3 he seemed to be the defensive safety valve outside the top of the key a lot of the time.

When somebody takes that many shots and shoots it at 46%, the coach will let him do whatever.

Obviously was traumatized by handling the ball so close to a basket in the Providence game.

Add in how much more time you have to shoot at a lower level where the game is slower and players are shorter.

Congratulations to Max. HE finally found the right team and right level of competition to showcase his talents.
