So fortunate to have this guy. The reconstructed roster reflects that IMO.

Couldn't agree more. Thanks for sharing, Paultz.

Last staff was ripped by some for going to Europe (vacations?) to recruit. Just sayin'.

For anyone that is truly being objective, there is a clear difference in effort between the two staffs.

Not only does the coaching staff deserve praise for its work ethic but the school president and those in charge of the budget likewise deserve kudos.

Never a big Lavin fan & agree Mulin will have to prove himself in leading the program. That said, comparing the two camps at this point makes little sense to me. I prefer to just move on.

all according to your point of view as to whether you like or dislike someone.
Right now everyone loves Mullin but it will change.

Difference is while Matts there the rest of our staff is out getting a commit from a top 40 player. Just sayin

In 6 months this incomplete staff has gotten 10 very good and smart commitments. We are very well positioned going forward. Matt did 3 different countries in 3 days, that is work not vacation. Slice was in NC one day (Rawle) and then is off to Canada (Thon) , prior staff never went to Canada once in 5 years. Mullin is running the program, attending every possible local event to give the school and program great free pub while in every gym in the tri state area to see every possible kid we could or should be interested in from 2016-2019.
How anyone can compare the 2 staffs I beyond logic. I love this incomplete staff.
Remember I said 10 commitments , Lightfoot and Bashir made join that group in the very near future. 11or 12 commitments in 6 months is beyond remarkable.

Before this thread gets out of control Simplyred simply stated 1 thing. He said Last staff got ripped for going to Europe.

That's flat out true.

He didn't say this staff is on vacation in europe and he didn't say this staff isn't hard working or working the same as the previous staff and in fact he agrees that this staff works harder than the previous staff. And I could be mistaken but I don't think he was directing his post accusing Paultz or any of the posters who posted on this thread I believe because I don't think any of them were people that knocked the previous staff hard for going to Europe because it was other posters that did it

He just made a simple observation that was true

I'm trying real hard not to rip the old staff more than I already have, but I will say that this staff is showing exactly how a top flight program should be run. Starting with a successful recruiting strategy which will undoubtedly translate to success on the court in no time.

That may be true, but it's also misleading. The staff got ripped by me and others for spending time in Europe while completely neglecting local and regional recruiting and not exactly making productive use of their time in Europe. They couldn't manage to make it down the road to CTK yet had no trouble hoping a flight to Serbia and Italy in August. A cynic would note August is prime vacation season in Europe. I have no doubt in my mind that if this staff invests some time in traveling to Europe, we will see the fruits of their labor in no time.

and they had "some" success, but it was in many ways the easy way out as time went on. Initially SL and staff made better efforts locally, but that faded dramatically after the first year. NYC intimidated SL. We currently have the exact opposite situation.

. As one of the earliest and harshest critics of SL, I agree 100%. Past is past and one has to acknowledge that SL got us back on the map, arguably paving the way for CM.

Mullin's success story on the hardwoods is so well known it hardly is worth repeating, but the correlation is startling.

While other players were in bed, Mullin was in the gym working.

While other players were out at the movies, or home watching TV, Mullin was on the court working.

Now, as head coach, he is simply proving that he is determined to outwork everyone else, and that is paying dividends already.

My favorite word lately is "authentic". Mullin, as a person, is authentic. No BS coaching lines, no phony promises that can't be kept, no over committing to a recruit. Mullin is simply the real deal as a person, and it shines through if you meet him for the first time for only a few minutes. He is hell bent on fully restoring this program, with the same work effort that perfected his jump shot. I am confident the results will be the same.
