Just saw he’s taking a leave of absence from Nebraska for health reasons.  I know many have a sour taste in their mouth for him but wishing him a speedy recovery.

Hope Matt A is okay.  I respect the job he did here.....hard-working and brought in some high talent.  SJU is not an easy sell, so I tend to give him a pass on the ones that didn't work out.

No hard feelings on my part .  Fred Hoiberg is a best friend who gave Matt his first shot in college ball.   I suspect if Matt's wife was a local girl he might still be here, but that's without malice towards him or her.

Matt and Steve proved that you can recruit major talent here.  Recruiting is selling, and selling is all about relationships.   Their success offers a glimmer of hope for our program.

Get well soon Matt, for yourself and your young family.

There is nothing not to like about Matt A. he did his job effectively here. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Prayers for Matt for a speedy and full recovery from whatever medical issues he's dealing with.

Speaking of Mustapha Heron, anyone know what he's up to? Was certain he was destined for a career in the NBA but never panned out.

Mario, last I saw (February 2021) he had signed with a team in the British basketball league, which I believe is a somewhat lower tier international league. Haven't heard any updates to that news.

Self-promoter? Sure.
Anonymous source to media: Yeah.
Offered little else besides recruiting: I agree
Helped force out Slice? Probably.

But at the end of the day, he constructed a pretty damn good team when NO ONE else was delivering players.

In the end it wasn't a great fit for Heron here.  He spent one season with Ponds where he should have been a rock solid #2 option, maybe even the top scorer, and I just don't think the offense ever prioritized his talents.   Year two was injury riddled.   I just think we never saw the best of him, but overall I thought he had a lot more basketball ability than he was able to display consistently.

Last check two weeks ago, Heron was playing in a lower tier team in Hungary but he is no longer on that roster. He only played a few games there.

Foreign basketball can be a sh*t show at lower levels especially.   Guys don't get paid, promises like housing not kept, random cuts, etc.

sheesh... let's see what, if anything comes out.

If the health concern is not true, or potentially just a side effect from the expected upcoming pressure, let's see what NCAA does. At 5-6 record, NCAA is more likely to give a warning that they didn't pay enough...lol

Let's then also hope it doesn't have them dig back into his time and recruiting efforts here.... I'm sure it wasn't all squeaky clean.

I hope Matt is OK.  I also hope there is no look-back and repercussions related to his time at SJU.

Should anyone really be done anywhere after recruiting violations if Wade still has a job, though?

I guess when you are probably the worst team in the Big 10 they look at you more closely....
