@Marquette, Tues. Feb. 21, 8pm, FS1/570AM

We should try to aim for 9-9
We got 2 home games left, even if we win both that's 8 wins, which mean we'll have to steal a game on the road.
@ Marq or Creighton. I think we'll have a better shot in this game.

It would be a Season Success, if we are able to finish 9-9 in BE play. Beating G'town and PC at home are not gimmes but, we need to have both. Agree, Marquette might be more winnable on the Road than Creighton. Although it seems Patton hasn't dominated games against other BE teams like he did the first time. Right now, 9-9 is the objective. Finishing 6-12 is not!

If we rouge it on our last game we do not win again We will see what they are made of If we played the way we did against Syracuse we could het into the finals

Right now we'd be the 8th seed, we'll need the top 6 to have a chance, avoid Wednesday

Good points

9-9 would be great of course
However it's been less than 2 years since CM inherited an expansion team w no if any talent.

I believe even a mere1 or 2 more BE Ws =
a successful season of
accomplishment,
transition
and PROGRESS.

IMO it's still about progress
to include
connecting w recruiting pipelines
Not Ws ( great to win) &
Ls ( lousy to lose)
Like it or not, takes time :)
all the best...

In January, I listed 4 bad road teams, and said if we can win 3 of 4, then we'll get to 7wins. 7 wins was the least I wanted. I think we have a real shot at going 4 for 4 in those games, which would give us 8 wins.

I'd just hate to have 1 less win then 9 and going 500 in the B.E.
That's all up to the kids.

Marquette a nine point favorite over St. John's Wednesday. Seems a big high. #sjubb

Tough on the road but their guards did not have a top gear equal to that of our two freshmen.

Their two guards, Howard and Rowsey are pretty deadly behind the three point line. In fact Howard hit 9 threes yesterday. Can't fall asleep on them, have to get around the picks. And don't leave your feet on Rowsey's fakes. For some unknown reason Johnson sat out last night game. He and Wilson are very athletic. It would be nice to get Fischer in foul trouble again. Marquette needs every win to get in the NCAA Tournament, crowd will be plenty loud.

The way the schedule worked out was no friend to SJU. The final three away games are:
Against teams in the top 25 discussion
All trying to nail down a tournament bid or better seed
All play in tough places to steal a win

I agree of course that all teams play the same schedule but I was thinking that for SJU to beat Buter, Marquette or Creighton on the road it would require a let down by one of them and their current positions in the NCAA tournament field makes that unlikely.
Let's win the two remaining home games and maybe beat DePaul again.

Sweeping Marquette would undoubtedly infuriate Steve "Floor Banger" Wojciechowski. This is just one small reason why I would immensely enjoy a win.

Make no mistake, if we are up late in this game, I WILL be banging my living room floor while the Johnnies are on defense.

Thank you.

Darien Williams (ankle) is a game-time decision tomorrow. Practiced some Monday for St. John's, per Chris Mullin. #sjubb

Few adjustments needed in this one. Thought perhaps the main key last time was that, for two teams that don't play a lot of defense, we won the defensive matchup by a wide margin. That seemed to start with Ponds and Lovett as it has seemed to in a few other games recently. Think the same would go a long way tonight.

Run them off the 3PT line as much as possible and take advantage (again) of Lovett/Ponds/Ahmed ability to breakdown their defense on dribble penetration. Thought we had one of our better games of the season in terms of getting easy hoops at the rim in the first game v. Marq.

In my opinion this is a real big game heading into the georgetown game. I really want a win tonight
