8 countries. That's pretty awesome

Congrats on the Career Marcus !!!

He wants to be involved. I’d love to see him back on our sidelines eventually in some capacity..

Hats off to one of the most exciting players in SJU history! 15 years getting paid to play, unbelievable. When he was on the Storm, the circus was always in town, never knew what you’d see, but you’d see it all!

BTW, Chris Duhon called, he wants his ball back!

Definitely one of my 10 favorite Johnnies of all time (and that spans 50+ years). A magician with the ball and someone who has never forgotten his SJU roots. Congrats on a great college and pro career!

Another brilliantly executed missive that artfully states your case. And without the condescension.

I for one would love to see Hatten on the staff and hopefully work his way up.
1. An all time great player at SJU.
2. Alumnus of the program.
3. Loves the program and the game of basketball.
4. 15 year pro career after St. John’s. Great selling point for future recruits as very few get to the NBA.
5. No clue what he got paid those 15 years but chances are he is not independently wealthy and will need a decent source of income going forward. He should be hungry and the opportunity is there to work his way up the ladder.

Lol

Definitely on a short list of my all-time favourite Redmen. Great talent and a real love of the game.

Reading that it's been 15 years makes me feel about a hundred years old. Seems like only yesterday since that FT to beat Duke with no time on the clock. What a classic moment...

Congrats to Mo. I hope we'll see more of him around the program in the years ahead.

Paying gigs are so hard to come by for former players. I'm connected to a bunch on linked in, and too many of them seem to have non paying roles, or list a company they presumable own to help kids develop. It just underscores the need to get a degree, and have a plan when you stop playing, especially for guys who are playing overseas.

In college, even among the paying jobs, there are just so many top programs that pay assistants life sustaining salaries. Some schools require all coaches to have bachelor degrees - even a school like Molloy, which is D2. I don't know what Marcus' situation is regarding his degree, but wish him the best as he transitions from a life after playing ball.
