I'm not a big movie or TV show watcher. Rarely watch any series regularly.  Seinfeld, Sopranos, Breaking Bad & Ozark were last shows i watched all of them.  Last time I was in a movie theater was 2007. Drives my wife crazy.

Went to theater w/ my wife to see this prequel as we both loved Sopranos and still watch old episodes. I read the reviews coming in, so had an idea what to expect.  Some character portrayals good, connections/references etc. but overall while I didn't think it was awful, I was disappointed and thought it could have been a lot better.

Anyone else?

I liked the first few seasons of The Sopranos and then lost interest.  I wasn’t very interested in the movie but watched it anyway. I thought it was pretty good.  I thought the actors did a great job of portraying the younger versions of the established characters.

I was a big fan of the Sopranos.  A very different shoes, but watch Ted Lasso.  One of the best shows I’ve ever seen….

I didn't like it at all. Very disappointed. I did like the Sil character. Stoll as Uncle Junior was OK. I really like Liota and Bernthal but they were awful here. Paulie??? horrible. I didn't like Gandolfini's kid in the role either. Maybe I am just a tough critic given how great I thought the characters in the series were.

Get it for free w hbo max starting tomorrow. Was looking forward to it. Sounds like I will be disappointed. At least I’m not going to spend any $.

It's just impossible to prequel an 80 to 100 hour series with a 2-hour movie.

On the flip side look at Better Call Saul,  - a prequel series to Breaking Bad which I would argue is just as good as the original. It would never work as a one-shot movie.
It fleshes out some of the best-supporting characters - Mike, Gus, Hector - from BB that we know and love. And that takes time.  Plus Bob Odenkirk is just a hell of an actor and Saul is just as good a character as Walter White.

Agree. If I looked at it as a mob movie I'd have thought it wasn't good. I liked it for seeing Tony's mom and the circumstances how he grew up which caused his mental stuff down the road. Also thought the guy that played Uncle Junior ( same guy that plays Mike Prince on Billions ) thought he nailed it and damn that voice was close
