Lovett Practice Dunks

We might not be tall at he guards but both are very athletic and explosive.

Would not be shocked if Ellison starts with Lovett

I would be

I would like Ponds / Lovett to start but wouldn't be surprised if he goes with Ellison to start season. Height, experience whatever. Hopefully by BE start Lovett / Ponds is the backcourt. Not what I would do but like I said it wouldn't shock me.

Anything is possible but I don't think you realize how good Ponds is.

Wasn't basing it on that. Just to start season I could see it for a bunch of reasons not really having anything to do with how good he is. If I had a vote he would start and play 35 minutes

That looks great, but I would rather him hit the 15' "jay" on a consistent basis!

If LoVett posted videos taking 15 foot jumpers, there would be complaints about no one guarding him.

If he posted videos taking 15 foot jumpers while being guarded, there would be complaints about no one guarding him hard enough.

If he posted videos taking 15 foot jumpers, while being guarded by two guys, six inches taller and going all out, there would be complaints LoVett range is limited.

And so on, and so on.

Not singling you out, just generally replying to the post. Any time an innocuous video of a player is posted, people become talent evaluators.

Not complaining about his ability to dunk, but as the season demonstrated, we need players who can shoot the basketball. We have plenty of guys who can dunk!
Being able to shoot well will take a team a long way, just ask any Villanova fan!

LoVett can shoot well enough, especially when guys guarding him will have trouble keeping him in front of them.

Pretty sure LoVett and Ponds ability to penetrate as guards will be the biggest contributing factor for any improvement we see this year. I can't really think of a more insanely hopeless offense than what we just watched this past season. Grateful for all Mussini and Ellison did last year and glad to have them around to play a role but thank god we've got some playmakers coming in.

After watching Ponds last night and having seen Lovett, teams are going to have a hard time containing our guards off the dribble. These guys are smooth handling the ball and very quick. Our backcourt speed will have improved markedly

I think we can agree to one thing about the video is that Lovett is in great shape. Hopefully, him and Shamorie are ready to run and control the pace of the game. When was the last time SJU had that in the backcourt!

Last seasons' second team with Lovett and Owens must have held their own at St. john's practices..
