Everyone please say a prayer for @stj_basketball coach Steve Lavin, who will undergo prostate cancer surgery later this week....

I echo his sentiments.

Hope all goes well and wish Lavin the best. Hope for a quick and seamless recovery.

We will keep him and his family in our prayers......

Glad they found it early and hopefully it will be gone permanently. Wishing the best for both Coach Lavin an CR

i know what Coach Lavin is going through - I've been down that road. I want him to know that he has become a cherished member of the St. John's community and that every single one of us is in his corner.

I'm delighted to learn that Coach Lavin is at Memorial Sloan-Kettering to have his prostate cancer treated and that his is a low-grade case. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Coach is undergoing the same procedure there as i did which involves the implantation of radioactive seeds targetting cancer cells.. I came out of the whole thing just fine and whatever the procedure is he couldn't be at a better place to have it done.

Coach, you are in good hands. Things happen for a reason. You came to a Catholic school and prayers are being said for you. You are truly a good man.
My wife was given a cancer death sentence a few years ago and everyone including Catholics, Jews, Lutherans, Presyberterians, Protestents, and some of the newer religious orders were praying for her. She is now 2 and 1/2 years cancer free. Prayer works and we are praying for you. God speed for a complete recovery.

Best wishes & prayers to Coach Lavin in the fight he's facing and which I'm sure he'll come out on top ... and gregbokin, best wishes & prayers to you and your wife in her in her battle against this awful disease. May she continue to be cancer free and may you have a long, long healthy life together.
