Long Layoff

why such a long layoff(12 days) Why not schedule a game the weekend just passed with an NJIT or a Monmouth. or a Stony Brook?

Not sure if all this time off helps the team...

We're coming off a losing streak. How's it going to hurt? They need the rest and so does Lavin. They also need to run the team without Nuri. Nothing wrong with the layoff.

I believe its for finals.

St Johns has always done this. After this layoff they play 2 games a week with a small roster. This won't hurt.

I don't mind this break per se, but one of these years, I wish the TV suits would, quite frankly, cut their losses (yeah right, like they'll ever do that!), and put the Duke, and in the case of this year UCLA, games on in November or December. If they won't, then it's time to end these series, IMO.

I'm all for having a strong non-conference schedule, but the Big East is enough of a grind, that when an opening in the schedule does occur, I think I'd rather have that full week off, and let my team rest up. Instead, we have to play just as hard, in esseance, for 2 extra games right in the heart of the season, when maybe an injured team (if we were that) could have been getting healthy.

I'm not against playing big-time non-conference teams, not at all. In fact, I welcome it. I just don't like the fact that TV demands that it be put right into the middle of the conference schedule. IMO, once conference season starts, it should be Big East games only, and those 2 times of having a full week rest, will likley pay dividends down the road.

The break was actually a God-send for these kids. Time to study and take finals. Time to reflect on the spirit of the holiday. Time to re-group as the Wonder Five as Fun put it.

I am praying for a Christmas miracle.....Amir joins the team, a surprise walk-on making a contribution and Lav back at full strenght after making some recruiting inroads with a couple of kids.

Thank God for the little things and he rewards you in big ways!
