The harsh reality is that our team has been terribly disappointing, especially with all the hype, hoopla regarding our top 100 players, etc.
Losing to such mediocre teams as Murray State,Baylor, USF and UNC-ASHEVILLE is why these rankings are close to being accurate.

What world are you living in where Baylor/Murray State are mediocre? I do agree it's been very disappointing though. The losses to USF and Asheville were not just bad losses...they were terrible. USF didn't just beat us, they throttled us blowing us out of the gym and proceeded to look more like a mid major vs. everyone else right after their win against us. That shows they are not some juggernaut...our D just totally let us down. The Asheville game leading by nearly 20 and letting that slip away is just maddening. No excuse at all for that...none. The only UNC it's acceptable to lose to is Chapel Hill. To avenge those 2 gut-wrenching losses, we need to make up some ground by upsetting some big boys namely Cincy, G'Town, etc. If we do that I will be much more optimistic. Until we prove we can knock off some real studs though, I will definitely not get my hopes up.

Nice job responding to my post when I wasn't the one who called them mediocre
I stand by my rating Baylor, Murray State as mediocre.. We lost to both teams because we did not play good defense, nor play smart.. A Big East team should not have lost to these 2 teams , let alone USF and UNC-ASHVILLE.
Being rated 4th in the NY Metro area for a St.John's team, behind Seton Hall, Rutgers, Stony Brook is not good. None of these teams ahead of us, nor the team's we have lost to thus far, have as high rated players as we do. Baylor may be debatable.
USF and ASHVILLE, with far less talent and so called athleticism beat us like a drum..Team's like Butler, Gonzaga with very good talent, likely less on paper than we do, would turn us upside down and take us to the woodshed.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you on USF or Asheville. As for Baylor and Murray we will have to agree to disagree. Baylor plays in a big time conference and has been a juggernaut under Drew. Murray won 31 games last year and returned the whole team (SR loaded) minus their 3rd/4th option.

Asheville we were totally destroying. It was getting ugly. Somewhere along the way. We just collapsed at both ends and they beat us, almost all of it OUR doing. Asheville did nothing special except let us screw up. I didn't see the USF game, but sounds like we just didn't come to play that day.

Be very, very thankful you didn't. They made us look like a D-III school and I'm not even joking in the least. USF torched our defense and really seemed to make every shot they tossed up. They were dead red from 3 and they got a TON of easy layups. At half we were within 4 points I think with USF playing the game of their lives and I assumed they would get cold in the 2nd half which is what usually happens due to the law of averages. That never happened and they kept making everything and torching our D while we had terrible shot selection. Naturally, USF goes on to play terrible against teams much worse than us. Go figure.

If they played so well and we were within 4 then how did we look like a D3 team?
