I worked with John for 25 years at Beth Israel Medical Center. He was a mentor to me. When an opportunity arose to attend graduate school, he encouraged me to apply. I did and received a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from NYU.

John was not only the Mayor of Stuyvesant Town, he was also the Mayor of Harlem. He had a wonderful engaging personality. He was well respected by his friends and coworkers. He will definitely be missed, may he SIP.

Was at the Xavier Beefsteak dinner tonight, and Xavier has a huge Stuytown alumni base. Many of those in attendance knew John and had gone to his wake/funeral. I believe his funeral was today. They all spoke glowingly of him. RIP.
