Lindy's & Athlon College Basketball Preview - No Love for St. John's/Big East

I'm sure some of you have picked up a copy of either the Lindy's or Athlon 2021-22 College Basketball Preview issues. For those that haven't I will just say, neither one seems to hold the Big East or St. John's in high regard for the upcoming season.  

I will start with Lindy's
-they rate the Big East as the seventh best conference (behind the West Coast Conference), I am not kidding.  
-they predict only 4 Big East teams to make the NCAA Tournament
-no, St. John's is not one of those four teams

As for Athlon
-they also predict only 4 Big East teams in the NCAA Tournament
-they do have St. John's as one of those
-the article says that St. John's won't be "sweating" on Selection Sunday but have them as a First Four team...if you're a First Four team you will be sweating it out in Selection Sunday.

Yea neither publication made much sense.  I don't think anybody credible that covers the Big East thinks Creighton is a top 4 team in the league this year, when I seen Lindy's had that, I just stopped reading.  Also, Lindy didn't even have the correct year for Joel Soriano, they have him a Senior and him being All-Big East 3rd team.  Then as you said with Athlon, they said Johnnies won't be sweating on Selection Sunday then have them as a last 4 team in, it makes no sense at all.

And I'm not a biggest Jon Rothstein fan, because he's a bit of a fanboy with some schools, but him and Andy Katz are probably the only 2 guys in the college basketball field that I have found that actually knows enough about every team in every conference to cover them accurately.  John Fanta is the best for Big East information.  The rest of these analyst/publications know maybe about the top 3 or 4 programs in each league then just bs the rest of the info, that's why you have Lindy's having Creighton as #4 because they have been a top program in the league, so they just figure they'll be good again, because they didn't actually take time to do any research on the rest of the league, they probably have no idea who anyone on our roster is besides Champ and Posh.

I give credit to these rags for trying to stay relevant in a digital world. That being said they are dying a slow death. Pull the plug already. 

also didn’t one of them put Posh and Julian on First Team Big East. If you have two players on first team you’re going to be dancing. That’s just common sense

Yes, and they put Joel Soriano with the wrong attributes and school year as 3rd team big east, I thought Big East only did 1st and 2nd Team with honorable mentions, regardless, How do you say a school is going to have 3 all league guys but not make the tournament lol.
