Lenny Cooke

“For all sad words of tongue and pen, The saddest are these, 'It might have been'.” (J. G Whittier)

Interesting read.

To his credit, Lenny seems willing to accept responsibility for the end of his basketball dream. Great lesson in there for some of the young bucks on their way up.

Story is not specific. Is the name of the doc "Lenny Cooke"? I'll be looking for it when it's released.

I'd love to see Cooke realize it is not even remotely too late for him to get an education and become much more than a "could have been" story.

St. John's was most likely his destination, if he attended college.

MJ, was he in the same class as Darius Miles?

He was in the class with Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Raymond Felton, and, former-Johnny, Elijah Ingram. The 2002 class.

RSCI had him as #25 in that class but only because Clark Francis didn't rank him at all. Was he a 5th year guy? Telep ranked him 11, Brick O 6 and Jeff Goodman (yes he did rankings back then) 4. If Francis' data was dropped all together Cooke would have been the #6 recruit on the RSCI list in that class behind only Amare, Carmelo, Felton, McCants and Paul Davis. Jason Fraser was also a top 5-10 recruit in that class.

I think 5th year is being generous :)

Supposedly Mike Jarvis is caught saying some things in this documentary that has caused a stir.

Should have done this a long time ago... Template for all future Mike Jarvis discussion:

Supposedly Mike Jarvis is caught [insert asinine scenario here]

Granted I'm sure the footage was from over a decade ago, it just goes to show the maniac we had running our basketball program.

@TheBBallDiary: FAU Mike Jarvis should be worried of his job. In Lenny Cooke Movie he said some wild stuff like players, $, slaves. He signed consent form.

@TheBBallDiary: FAU Mike Jarvis quote in Lenny Cooke Movie put coaches that aren't included in an unfair light. It needs to be seen & not out of context.
