Lenn Robbins / Barclay's / March 16

Lets hope we get a much better turn out than we did earlier this year against St. Francis. Regardless of which one of those teams we play, they will be an upgrade from St. Francis and hopefully we make a better showing as far as attendance goes.

That was something totally different. It was WVU vs Mich game and our game was last second addition.

The Barclays Classic this past year was Kentucky, Maryland, LIU, Morehead State and Lafayette. Yeah 5 teams it was weird. Obviously they went to a normal 4 this year.

Mentions St. John's will play at The Barclay's Center Classic on Nov. 29-30 along with Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, and Penn State.

You'll get a solid crowd there:

(1) People still want to see the Barclays Center cause it's newer
(2) St. John's is a local team
(3) A lot of Penn State grads in NYC

I know the game this past season was a late addition to the WVU-Michigan game but I still think we should have had a better turnout. In fact reasons numbers 1 & 2 applied to this past season and we still had a lousy turnout. I am actually thinking that Penn St may outdraw us b/c it is a rare event for them to play in NYC & b/c they do have a lot of alums here.

Our fans were not happy tix weren't included in season tickets. And frankly most are too lazy to get their own. I did. I know a few others who did. STJ got tickets for the event and burned thru them quickly. Went back to Barclays to ask for more but were told no more were left. Then the place was a sea of Yellow by the time the 3rd game happened. Penn State has lots of grads in the area but they are not a bball school. They might not show up.

STJ should be aggressive and pro active and do whatever they can to include these tix with season tickets. Lord knows there arent THAT many accounts to work with.

Yeah, those 1500 season tix holders who didn't go to Barclays made all the difference. ;)
