I just read the Redstormsports.com coverage of yesterday’s great win over Cincy, and it was a great road victory over a quality opponent. I didn’t realize all of our Lavin-era victories over ranked-opponents came with SL on the sidelines (except one).

I find the Lavin quotes humorous; he has a gift for never going with one descriptive word, when two or even (sometimes) three will do.

Has anyone else here noticed the combination of synonyms that Steve uses when describing something.

It is fun.

I call it Lavin-speak.

We had Looie with his funny expressions ("one day a peacock, the next day a feather duster"; "the best thing about freshmen is they becomes sophomores") so it carries on a Tradition!

Good win yesterday, Men!!!

I think we should sticky this thread and make it all things Lavin so some fans don't torpedo other topics into Lavin love or bashing. LOL!

The line.... "the best thing about freshmen is they become sophmores".... is a creation of the late, great Al Maguire during his broadcasting days along with Dick Enberg and Billy Packer.
